Scientific Purpose/Goals: Obtain at least 30 piston cores from 21 pre-selected target areas and determine character of bottom sediment in the study area. Subsamples were collected for hydrocarbon content, bacteria taxonomy, geotechnical properties, pore water geochemistry, and age determination.
