Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Seismics: Multichannel, Location-Elevation: Navigation

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collect state-of-the-art multifold seismic reflection data across the West Florida Margin and on the Destin Dome for structural and stratigraphic framework studies and resources assessment of the northern MAFLA OCS.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location:

End Port/Location:

Start Date: 1979-08-06

End Date: 1979-08-21

Equipment Used: Multichannel seismics, Northstar 6000 LORAN-C, Magnavox System 5000 integrated navigation system

Information to be Derived: Morphology;

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Data quality is assumed excellent on the basis of near-trace monitor records, galvo-camera records, and observations of reflection returns and noise as displayed on the streamer monitor. Major problems causing delays and breaks-in-line involved mainly mechanical malfunctions such as compressor breakdowns, airgun malfunctions, problems with ship generators, traffic, and acceptable satellite passes. 64-channel (32-fold) CDP seismic reflection data: 17 lines (MAFLA Gulf Mex 1-17), 1284.6 km; 12 kHz fathometer data: 1284.6 km.
