Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Rafael W. Rodriguez, Juan Luis Trias, James V. A. Trumbull

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Environmental Data: Turbidity, Imagery: Photo, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Biology, Sampling: Chemistry, Sampling: Geology, Seismics: Boomer, Seismics: Sub Bottom Profiler

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Cruise related to work done in second part, cruise report 81020. The objectives of this leg of the cruise were to make high-resolution seismic profiles for reconnaissance use in research into late Pleistocene and Holocene sea-level rise and coral reef history and an investigation of sand resources in certain areas of the Dominican Republic; and to collect sediment samples offshore of the Dominican Republic coast to make grain and trace metals analyses in the Geo-laboratory of the Department of Natural Resources. This data will be used for Rafael Rodriguez' PhD thesis.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico

End Port/Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico

Start Date: 1981-06-08

End Date: 1981-06-26

Equipment Used: Boomer, 3.5 kHz, Shipek grab, Secchi disk, SCUBA, Nikonos camera, Raytheon radar, Magnavox satellite positioning system, Single channel hydrophone
