Data Type(s): Imagery: Photo, Imagery: Video, Sampling: Biology, Sampling: Geology, Location-Elevation: Navigation

Scientific Purpose/Goals: (1) Determine abundance of lobsters and lobster shelters in selected areas of the northwest region of the Gulf of Maine along two transects originating in commercially productive areas inshore (Boothbay Harbor and Stonington, Maine) and ranging offshore to Cashes Ledge and Jordan Basin, respectively. (2) Describe and record the geological and sedimentary features of the sea floor at all dive locations throughout the programmed transect; collect sediment samples for grain size analysis and qualitative infaunal samples.

Start Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA

End Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA

Start Date: 1984-07-14

End Date: 1984-07-26

Equipment Used: Camera- deep sea, Video camera - deep sea, Push corer (wh), Northstar 7000 LORAN-C

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Dives JSL2-875 through JSL2-900; 23 stations; 46 sediment samples; film and video employed on all dives.
