Field Activity Details for field activity 1985-007-FA

Other ID: P-4-85

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Location: U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, United States, Caribbean Sea, North America, North Atlantic;

Principal Investigator(s): Gail Kineke

Affiliate Investigator(s): Byron Ruppel, USGS-Menlo Park

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Seismics: Air Gun / Water Gun, Seismics: Boomer

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collect high-resolution single-channel seismic reflection data near Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This endeavor was secondary to the collection of gravity data by the USGS-Menlo Park personnel for the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA). This report covers the seismic reflection aspects of the cruise.

Vehicle(s):

Start Date: 1985-04-01

Start Port/Location: Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico

End Date: 1985-04-08

End Port/Location: Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Equipment Used: Air gun, EG&G 234, Magnavox System 5000 integrated navigation system, Single channel hydrophone

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Seismic reflection data gathered: Lines 51, 38B, 38A-TRANS, 37, 37A-TRANS, 36-EAST, 36A-TRANS, 35B, 24-EAST, 550-TRANS, 55A-TRANS, 56, 758, 16W, 16WB, 14W, 14WA, 49, 49A-TRANS, 17, TOTO 1, TOTO 2, 69, and 70.
