Data Type(s): Seismics: Sub Bottom Profiler, Location-Elevation: Navigation
Scientific Purpose/Goals: To fill in some data gaps from previous cruises, and to better define the position and extent of some of the offshore moraines.
Vehicle(s):
Start Port/Location: Noank, CT
End Port/Location: Noank, CT
Start Date: 1989-06-02
End Date: 1989-06-03
Equipment Used: Datasonics 3.5 kHz profiler, Loran-C
Information to be Derived:
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Various combinations of sources and hydrophones were tried. None yielded the results required to complete this work. The data are generally poor (Huntec did better than Datasonics). Seismic lines 4 (1340 hrs., LORAN line 43950, North of Plum Island) and 6 (1540 hrs., LORAN line 26220) have some interesting sections. All paper records, navigation tapes and notes are archived at the Long Island Sound Resource Center, UCONN-Avery Point.
