USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program

Coastal & Marine Geology Program

Field Activity Details for field activity 1990-044-FA

Other ID: OC227 - I, II

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Michael Bothner

Affiliate Investigator(s): J. Frederick Grassle - Rutgers; William Martin - WHOI

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology, Seismics: Sub Bottom Profiler

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Conduct in situ measurements of chemical and biological processes in water sediment interface including particle mixing, pore water irrigation, metabolic rate. Collect sediment samples to study benthic infauna, microbiology, heavy metals, organic geochemistry for distribution of chemical enrichment from sewage sludge at dump site.
