Other ID: MH30-99
Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center
Location: Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic,
Principal Investigator(s): Michael Bothner
Information Specialist(s): Frances Lightsom
Data Type(s): Environmental Data: Dissolved Oxygen, Imagery: Photo, Sampling: Geology, Time Series: Mooring (physical oceanography)
Scientific Purpose/Goals: Exchange moorings at two locations and collect sediment cores at two long-term monitoring stations. We will also make measurements of oxygen profiles at the sediment stations.
Start Date: 1999-05-11
Start Port/Location: U.S. Coast Guard Base, Boston, MA
End Date: 1999-05-12
End Port/Location: U.S. Coast Guard Base, Boston, MA
Equipment Used: Oxygen profiling system from Sayles, Mooring tripod, Corer - piston, Camera- deep sea, Grab sampler - Van Veen , Bottom tripod
Information to be Derived: Time series data; Samples and chemical analysis; Suspended sediment concentrations;
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Divers used to recover tripod at Boston Buoy B. Moorings recovered: 4 (#551, 552 and 553, all deployed FA 99007 MARCUS HANNA Feb. 10-11, 1999; #568 deployed FA 99021 CHRISTOPHER ANDREW Mar. 26, 1999). Moorings deployed: 4 (#569, 570, 571 and 572 all recovered FA 99009 MARCUS HANNA Sep. 21-22, 1999).
