Information to be Derived: Samples and chemical analysis;

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: The TIOGA met us in Hewitt's Cove at 0930 hrs after travelling from Woods Hole that morning. We were back at the dock with all samples about 1300 and back at the lab in Woods Hole at 1505. The dive took place just after high tide. Currents on the ebb at this site were very weak, somewhat of a disadvantage for diver visibility. The weak currents were predicted by Rich Signell's model, which he kindly ran before the cruise. A surface marker was placed on the sampling site and served as a useful physical reference for deployment of the camera and sampling gear. A few minutes of video of the sea floor at Station 8 were collected to confirm the absence of biological mats or disturbance from anchor, lobster pots, etc. The bottom looked ideal for sampling. Six good cores were collected. Bottom water was also collected for TSS, oxygen, and for the erosion and incubation experiment.
