This data release contains boomer subbottom data collected in June and July of 1996 on the shelf and slope offshore Eureka, California. Subbottom acoustic penetration spans up to several tens of meters, and is variable by location. This data release contains digital SEG-Y data. The data were collected aboard the R/V Wecoma using a Huntec Hydrosonde Deep-Tow system.
<purpose>The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected boomer subbottom profiles in the summer of 1996 offshore Eureka, California, as part of the STRATAFORM Project, which aimed to image the upper 100 meters of sediment and to determine architecture of depositional units along continental margins (Minasian and others, 2001). These data and information are intended for science researchers, students from elementary through college, policy makers, and general public.</purpose>
