Water samples were collected in south San Francisco Bay on four days in July 2020. The water samples were collected near pre-established USGS instrument moorings with a Niskin bottle, lowered from the R/V Snavely. Data are provided in comma-delimited values spreadsheets.
<purpose>These data were collected to calibrate turbidity data from optical backscatter sensors to total suspended solids. Selected samples were also analyzed visually for particle size and settling velocity using the FlocCam. They were collected as part of a study by the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program, funded by the San Francisco Estuary Institute, investigating physical drivers of sediment flocculation. These data are intended for researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public.</purpose>
