Data were collected and processed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) during fieldwork activity number 2018-686-FA. The bathymetric data are provided as a GeoTIFF image. Purpose: Three separate SWATHPlus surveys were conducted in Whiskeytown Lake in December 2018, May 2019, and September 2020 to measure possible debris flows into the lake during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 rainy seasons following the July-August 2018 Carr fire that burned vegetation around the entire lake. Post-fire hillslope sediment yields are commonly substantially greater than pre-fire yields, but the degree to which they increase can vary substantially. Effects of wildfire on sediment yield have important implications for hazards (debris-flow risk), ecosystem disturbance and recovery, and downstream water resources (storage capacity in lakes, as well as water quality). These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public. These data can be used with geographic information systems or other software to identify bathymetric features. These data are not intended to be used for navigation. Lineage: Process_Step: Process_Description: The Swath bathymetric survey was conducted with a SWATHplus-M 234-kHz interferometric side-scan sonar system pole-mounted on the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) R/V San Lorenzo. During the mapping mission, an Applanix POS-MV (Position and Orientation System for Marine Vessels) integrated with GPS was used to position the vessel during data collection, and it also accounted for vessel motion such as heave, pitch, and roll. The POS-MV also recorded position and vessel motion parameters for later post-processing. Sound-velocity profiles were collected throughout the survey days with a Castaway sound velocimeter. Post-processed POS-MV Smoothed Best Estimate of Trajectory (SBET) files were merged with the survey line files using BathySwath software and then the line files were imported into Caris HIPS and SIPS software. Soundings were cleaned for obvious errors and gridded into 1-m and 2-m base surfaces. The base surfaces were exported as XYZ ascii files in UTM-10 coordinates referenced to the WGS84 ellipsoid. The ascii files were transformed to UTM-10, NAD83(2011) coordinates relative to NAVD88 using VDatum software (version 3.7). The transformed XYZ ascii files were gridded into 1-m and 2-m resolution surfaces using Fledermaus software (version 7.8), converted to ASCIIRaster files and imported into Esri ArcMap (version 10.3.1). The bathymetry grids were then exported as TIFF files in UTM zone 10, NAD-83(2011) coordinates, relative to NAVD88.
