Beach elevation profiles were measured along 29 shore-normal transects on and around Arey and Barter Islands, Alaska in August 2010 and July 2011. Profile data are available in a single comma-delimited file and a zip file including multiple .jpg images that show a visual representation of the individual profiles.

<procdesc>Beach elevation profiles were measured along 29 shore-normal transects on and around Arey and Barter Islands, Alaska in August 2010 and July 2011. Profiles were collected at 14 locations in 2010 and 15 locations in 2011. No data were collected at an AR-12 site. Position information were obtained with two Ashtech ZXtreme roving global positioning system (GPS) units in a backpack configuration. A base station using a third ZXtreme was established on Barter Island for the duration of the field campaigns. Rover data were collected to within 0.20 m accuracy using post-processed measurements from the base station.</procdesc>

<procdesc>Cumulative distance along the profile transect was calculated from the Easting and Northing coordinates. Approximate mean sea level (Ht_MSL) elevations were calculated by adding an empirically determined 2.3 m to the height above ellipsoid (Ht_Ell) values. Cumulative distance along the profile transect was plotted against Ht_MSL elevations in Microsoft Excel. Profiles exported from Excel were imported into and edited in Adobe Illustrator to identify coincident sediment sample locations and morphological features, for example Berm Crest (BC), Water Line (WL), Lagoon Shoreline (LS). Files were exported to final jpeg format using the naming convention TransecID.jpg.</procdesc>
