<descript>
Time-series measurements of waves, currents, water levels, sea surface temperatures, ocean salinity, and water, air, and ground temperatures were collected in July through September 2011 in and around Arey Lagoon, near Barter Island, Alaska. Directional wave spectra, currents, water levels, salinity, and bottom and surface water temperatures were measured with a bottom-mounted 1MHz Nortek AWAC, HOBO temperature loggers, and a Solinst Levelogger in ~5m water depth offshore of Arey Island. Within Arey Lagoon, a bottom-mounted frame equipped with a Nortek 1MHz Aquadopp, Solinst Levelogger, and HOBO temperature loggers measured currents, water levels, and water temperatures. Ground temperatures (maximum depth 3 meters below the surface), were measured with HOBO temperature loggers and EMS iButtons at incremental depths across a tundra bluff, within a wet sedge region, and on the Arey Island island surrounding Arey Lagoon. This metadata describes the current-velocity data that were collected. Data summaries and further details can be found in Erikson and others, 2020.
<purpose>Data were obtained to provide inputs and validation data for a numerical model, and additionally to provide baseline environmental data previously not available.</purpose>

<attraccr>Standard operating procedures were used to collect all data. Instruments used to measure salinity, waves, water levels, and currents were calibrated prior to deployment. Directional wave and current data were calibrated to account for the magnetic declination (23.3 degrees) so that all reported values are relative to true north. Manufacturer instrument resolution and accuracy are as follows: AWAC waves: within 2 degrees for directions, <1% error of measured wave heights and periods; AWAC velocities: ~1% accuracy of measured values; AWAC and Aquadopp pressures: within 0.5%; AWAC and Aquadopp nearbed water temperatures: within 0.1 degrees Celsius; Aquadopp velocities: accuracy of 2cm/s; Solinst level logger conductivity: accuracy within 0.1% of measured values; HOBO temperature loggers: accuracy within 0.2 degrees Celsius; Solinst Levelogger temperatures: within 0.1 degrees Celsius; EMS iButton temperature loggers: accuracy of 1 degree Celsius.</attraccr>

<logic>Data have been checked for duplications and omissions. Missing data have been filled with NaN values. Where data were not collected a value of n/a is used. Near bed salinity concentration data measured in August 2011 with the Solinst Leveloggers that were mounted on the AWAC and Aquadopp instrument frames are questionable.</logic>
