Abstract:
Using the Delft3D 4 Suite (Lesser and others, 2004), sediment transport and morphologic change was simulated at Little Dauphin Island, Alabama (AL) for 5-year simulations of restoration alternatives as described in Passeri and others (2025). The two-dimensional Delft3D model can be applied to coastal systems to solve for time-dependent bed level elevations. The Delft3D model setup requires the input of bathymetric elevations at each grid cell. Model inputs and outputs in the form of elevation at each grid cell are provided in this data release. For further information regarding model input generation and visualization of model output, refer to Passeri and others (2025).

These data were generated to examine the effects of restoration alternatives on sediment transport and morphologic change at Little Dauphin Island, AL. 5Year_R1_elevation.zip is a dataset consisting of Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata and a Network Common Data Form (NetCDF) file containing the following variables: coordinates of the model grid (Northing and Easting) and the initial (z_initial) and final (z_final) model elevation values, in meters, for a 5-year simulation of the R1 (tidal inlet channel realignment) alternative scenario.

    Delft3D with model inputs was used to simulate sediment transport and morphologic change at Little Dauphin Island, AL. Model setup and boundary conditions are outlined in Passeri and others (2025). This dataset provides the initial and final elevations for the 5-year R1 (tidal inlet channel realignment) scenario.
