Description:
Abstract:
This data release contains model inputs and outputs of water level elevations resulting from deterministic simulations along the South Atlantic Bight (SAB), which extends roughly from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina to the Upper Florida Keys, Florida, USA. For further information regarding model input generation and visualization of model output topography and bathymetry, refer to Woodruff and others (2025).
Purpose:
These data were generated by the ADvanced CIRCulation (ADCIRC) model (Luettich and others, 1992) to simulate storm-induced water levels from Hurricane Florence (2018) along the South Atlantic Bight (SAB), USA. Water levels were simulated over a period of 28 days from 0000 GMT on August 21, 2018, to 0000 GMT on September 18, 2018, to allow for tidal spin up and model stability. Hourly simulated water level outputs and maximum water surface elevations (at minimum 200 meters [m] resolution) for the last eleven days of the simulation period were run from 0100 GMT September 7, 2018, to 0000 GMT 18 September . The model inputs and model-simulated water levels are included in the download file, SABv3-200m-Florence.zip, as American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) text files and Network Common Data Form (NetCDF, .nc) files.
