Title:
Navigation Tracklines of the Puerto Rico Trench Cruise 03008 (NOAA 0303) February 18 to March 7, 2003 (nav2003)
Abstract:
The Puerto Rico trench is a tectonic plate boundary where the North American plate slides by and descends under the Caribbean plate. Although much of the trench lies within the U.S. EEZ, surprisingly few surveys have been conducted there during the past 25 years. This data set shows the tracklines (navigation path) of the U.S. Geological Survey science cruise that was conducted in the year 2003.
  1. How might this data set be cited?

Edits to the metadata were made to fix any errors that MP v 2.9.36 flagged. This is necessary to enable the metadata to be successfully harvested for various data catalogs. In some cases, this meant adding text "Information unavailable" or "Information unavailable from original metadata" for those required fields that were left blank. Other minor edits were probably performed (title, publisher, publication place, etc.). The link to the data and the publication in the Identification section had to be fixed. The link to the data was added to the distribution section. The source information was incomplete and had to be modified to meet the standard. Added ISO 19115 Topic Category keywords. Empty elements were deleted. The distribution liability was added. The didital transfer information was incomplete so modified to meet the standard. The metadata date (but not the metadata creator) was edited to reflect the date of these changes. The metadata available from a harvester may supersede metadata bundled within a download file. Compare the metadata dates to determine which metadata file is most recent. Person who carried out this activity:
