Description:

Abstract:

These seismic data were collected to infer the paleodepositional environment of Pulley Ridge through seismic facies analysis. Without actual rock cores, remote sensing is the next best tool. It was uncertain if Pulley Ridge represented a drowned reef or paleoshoreline. Through seismic imaging, it was determined from the high-amplitude, level-bedded nature of material in the sub-surface that Pulley Ridge represents several stages of barrier-island development.

Purpose:

These data were collected to describe the shallow subsurface geologica framework of the area where deep-water corals are known to occur.

Seismic data were collected in 1996 (lines 47 and 48) and 2001 (line 23-32 and line 34). The 1996 data were collected with an ORE boomer sled, Geopulse power supply (operating at 375 Joules), an ITI streamer, and logged onto an Elics acquisition system. Navigation was acquired with a DGPS system. The data collected in 2001 were collected with a Huntec boomer sled, Applied Acoustics power supply (operating at 375 Joules), an ITI streamer, and logged onto an Elics acquisition system. Navigation was acquired with a DGPS system.

Edits to the metadata were made to fix any errors that MP v 2.9.36 flagged. This is necessary to enable the metadata to be successfully harvested for various data catalogs. In some cases, this meant adding text "Information unavailable" or "Information unavailable from original metadata" for those required fields that were left blank. Other minor edits were probably performed (title, publisher, publication place, etc.). Attempted to modify http to https where appropriate. The link to the larger work citation had to be fixed. The standard order process section in the Distribution section was incomplete and had to be modified to meet the standard - which included adding a link to the data. Added ISO 19115 Topic Category keywords. The metadata date (but not the metadata creator) was edited to reflect the date of these changes. The metadata available from a harvester may supersede metadata bundled within a download file. Compare the metadata dates to determine which metadata file is most recent.
