U.S. Geological Survey Sea Floor Stress and Sediment Mobility Database: Updates

Dalyander, P.S., Butman, B., Sherwood, C.R., and Signell, R.P., 2012, U.S. Geological Survey sea floor stress and sediment mobility database: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P999PY84

Update

November 2012

Database goes online with analysis of the Middle Atlantic Bight region.

December 2012

South Atlantic Bight region added
April 2014

Gulf of Maine region added

  • South Atlantic Bight and Middle Atlantic Bight bed mobility recurrence interval files updated so that in the case of no events a value of 9999 is returned (data files and metadata updated to version 1.1)
  • South Atlantic Bight and Middle Atlantic Bight bed mobility percentage metadata files updated to reflect that only those observations from the East Coast Sediment Texture Database with phi component percentages adding to 95-100% of the sample are used (metadata update only, processing itself has been consistent since first version of the files).

June 2014

Gulf of Mexico region added

The following minor errors were corrected in Gulf of Maine metadata. These modifications are also noted within the metadata files in a process step.

  • Median of Bottom Shear Stress: spelling error fixed; corrected online linkage file to be GMAINE_median.zip
  • 95th Percentile of Bottom Shear Stress: corrected online linkage file to be GMAINE_95th_perc.zip.
  • Interpercentile Range of Bottom Shear Stress: corrected online linkage file to be GMAINE_hIPR.zip.
  • Bed Mobility Percentage: corrected online linkage file to be GMAINE_mobile_perc.zip; corrected name of hydrodynamic model in keywords to "FVCOM".
  • Bed Mobility Recurrence Interval: corrected online linkage file to be GMAINE_mobile_freq.zip; corrected name of hydrodynamic model in keywords to "FVCOM".

July 2020

Dataset moved to new server. Metadata updated to reflect these changes.
