Information Specialist(s): Emily Klipp

Data Type(s): Biological Field Study: Experiments (biological), Biological Field Study: Surveys (biological), Environmental Data: Meteorology, Environmental Data: Temperature, Imagery: Photo, Location-Elevation: Navigation

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Site visit to coral calcification monitoring stations

Vehicle(s): Ford F-350 Dually White (GSA)

Start Port/Location: Miami, FL

End Port/Location: Key West, FL

Start Date: 2011-11-05

End Date: 2011-11-15

Equipment Used: Camera, Digital, Hand Held, Global Positioning System (GPS), HOBO Pendant Temperature/Light Data Logger 64K, Ohaus Balance, Crustose Coralline Algae (CCA) Tiles

Information to be Derived: Mass of calcium carbonate gained per unit time for coral Siderastrea siderea and crustose coralline algal communities on nylon tiles. Hourly temperature data for past 6 months.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Measured buoyant mass of n = 10 colonies of Siderastrea siderea, and dry mass of crustose coralline algae gained on n = 10 tiles. Maintenance of station.
