Scientific Purpose/Goals: The general scientific objective of the cruise was to investigate the suspended sediment transport system within the South Texas OCS. Specific objectives consisted of the following: A) obtaining samples of the water column for textural analysis, water chemistry, total mass analysis, trace element analysis, X-ray analysis, and total organic; B) obtaining vertical turbidity-temperature profiles; C) obtaining sea floor photographs; and D) casting drift bottles to measure surface currents.

End Date: 1975-11-21
Equipment Used: Martek Transmissometer, Lorac Positioning System, Loran-A, Raytheon radar
Information to be Derived: Samples and chemical analysis;
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Vertical turbidity-temperature profiles of the water column at 26 stations; Water column samples (surface, mid-depth, bottom) at 26 stations; Ship track (km): 900; Samples: 78 water samples (3 samples at each station).
