Scientific Purpose/Goals: Resource exploration well drilled by the Ocean Production Company acting as operator for a group of 25 original participating companies, the Continental Offshore Stratigraphic Test (COST) Group. This hole, designated the COST No. GE-1 well, was drilled on the outer part of the Continental Shelf about 74 mi (119 km) east of Jacksonville, Fla. along the Southeast Georgia Embayment. COST GE-1 was drilled using the ODECO jack-up drill barge, the OCEAN STAR.
