Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Ronald J. Miller

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Seismics: Boomer

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Preliminary report detailing findings of 3 phases - first two phases recorded in cruise reports 81007 and 81008. Objective of phase 3 onboard CARANCAHUA was the completion of trackline runs laid out in phase 1, run in phase 2, and continued in shallow waters in phase 3. Purpose of study was to provide an interpretation of the geologic framework and geologic history of the Louisiana-Mississippi OCS area since the middle Pleistocene, and to present the regional distribution of geologic features that can be hazardous to offshore gas and oil production.
