Scientific Purpose/Goals: Shallow water, high-resolution reflection and refraction seismology utilizing an explosive sound source, 3-axis geophone and single hydrophone sensors, and a sonobuoy telemetry system. Additionally, a USGS ocean-bottom seismograph was deployed.
Vehicle(s):
Start Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA
End Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA
Start Date: 1984-11-08
End Date: 1984-11-08
Equipment Used: Multichannel seismics, Seismic refraction, ORE GeoPulse, Loran-C, Del Norte, transponder net
Information to be Derived:
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: All equipment worked well. There seems to be an electronic coupling problem between the geophone system and the sonobuoy transmitters. This problem will be addressed this winter and the experiment will be attempted again in Spring of 1985.
