Other ID: FER 94-3

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Robert N. Oldale, Richard Rendigs

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Seismics: Air Gun / Water Gun, Seismics: Boomer

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collection of seismic reflection data for determining the geologic framework of Stellwagen Bank, Tillies Bank and Tillies Basin.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Provincetown, MA

End Port/Location: Provincetown, MA

Start Date: 1994-10-18

End Date: 1994-10-22

Equipment Used: DGPS, Water gun (wh), Boomer, Single channel hydrophone

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: The cruise was very successful in accomplishing all the original "landslide" expectations for total trackline coverage. Data quality was excellent and overall resolution of the reflectors was enhanced by displaying the data on two channels of the EPC recorder at different sweep rates. Interpretation of the acoustic basement reflectors should be possible from this data set resulting in a more complete understanding of the geologic framework of Stellwagen Bank. Transect lines: 32.
