Scientific Purpose/Goals: We collected sediment samples using ALVIN from the Sludge Max Site in the 106 Mile Dumpsite for sewage sludge. Samples were also collected from Grassle's long-term Station 6 by box coring, and from the head of Hudson Canyon from ALVIN. This is a cooperative multidisciplinary and multi-institutional program. Five dives were completed. This cruise was part of the Ocean Exploration Initiative that NOAA is proposing for future federal funding.

Start Date: 2001-09-16
End Date: 2001-09-21
Equipment Used: Push corer (wh), DGPS
Information to be Derived:
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Alvin FLUFF samples were collected on three dives. Fluff samples from 5 box cores from MMS Station 6 were collected. Core sections were split for metals, organic geochemistry and Clostridium perfringens analysis.
