Information Specialist(s): PARTNER

Data Type(s): Environmental Data: Dissolved Oxygen, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Chemistry

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Deploy oxygen profiling instrument at long-term Monitoring Stations 3 and 2; test grab sampler.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Hull, MA

End Port/Location: Hull, MA

Start Date: 2003-06-17

End Date: 2003-06-17

Equipment Used: Oxygen profiling system from Sayles, GPS (wh), Water sampler

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Profiler worked well from boat. Profiles were downloaded at sea. Grab was deployed on starboard side, aft position. Sampler rested on gunnel with stability pipe in other hole and sample buckets over side of vessel for sampling and clean-out. Davit was of adequate height. Starboard davit was guyed to port side davit. Hardly a measurable list occurred during pullout. Sample was good with excellent penetration. Weather and tide didn't allow visit to site 2. Osprey Oxygen profiler was deployed and recovered twice at site 3. Small Van Veen grab was tested from davit in Boston Harbor in thirty feet of water near Perry Cove at 42 17.978 N, 70 56.425 W.
