Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Eel traps were set at three locations in Oyster Pond on June 19. Bait consisted of frozen striped bass, held in a 4 oz. plastic jar suspended next to the neck of the trap, close to the small end. On June 23, the traps were recovered. The trap at the wooden dock at the end of Ransom Road contained a small and medium size American eel. The trap at the north side of Spohr Garden had one large eel. The traps were reset with exising bait. No eels were collected on June 26, and the traps were removed. On June 23, a dip net was used at the weir, just north of Surf Drive, to collect 26 young-of-the-year river herring that were migrating seaward.
