Scientific Purpose/Goals: Site visit to coral calcification monitoring stations to measure coral and algal calcification rates

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: St. Petersburg, FL

End Port/Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Start Date: 2014-04-28

End Date: 2014-05-16

Equipment Used: Digital Camera, Ohaus Balance, Settling Plates, Sea-Bird Wave and Tide Logger (SBE 26plus), Other, Garmin GPS

Information to be Derived: Mass of calcium carbonate gained per unit time for corals Montastraea faveolata and Acropora cervicornis and crustose coralline algal communities on nylon tiles. Hourly temperature data for past 6 months.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Data were collected at the five sites including underwater temperature, and calcification rate of corals and algae.
