Information Specialist(s): Eric Grossman

Data Type(s): Imagery: Photo, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Biology, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Examine delta nearshore habitat structure, facies, sediment transport, and benthic invertebrate community composition relative to sediment disturbance

Vehicle(s): None

Start Port/Location: Bellingham, WA

End Port/Location: Bellingham, WA

Start Date: 2014-07-10

End Date: 2014-07-10

Equipment Used: Handheld GPS, sediment grab sampler, Push corer

Information to be Derived: sediment particle size; carbon content; benthic invertebrate community composition; pore water properties

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: 47 shallow (10-cm or 2-cm surface) cores for sediment particle size, carbon, benthic invertebrate biomass and community structure analyses. Six pore-water measurements made in 0.5m deep pits in tidal flats and two freshwater property measurements made in nearby distributary channels.
