Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Pacific Coral Reef Geology and Oceanography (ZP00DXN)

Principal Investigator(s): Nancy Prouty

Affiliate Investigator(s): Darla White, Dept. of Aquatic Resources, Hawaii

Information Specialist(s): Nancy Prouty

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Chemistry

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Retrieve semi permeable membrane devices

Vehicle(s): None

Start Port/Location: Lahaina, Maui

End Port/Location: Lahaina, Maui

Start Date: 2014-10-13

End Date: 2014-10-15

Equipment Used: Handheld GPS, water bottle

Information to be Derived: contaminants collected over a 30 day period on reefs

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Semi-Permeable Membrane Devices (SPMDs) were deployed and recovered to measure contaminants. Water samples were taken via a Niskin and pumped using a peristaltic pump and filtered for carbonate chemistry and nutrient concentrations.

Staff: Nancy Prouty

Affiliate Staff:

Notes: We are using a vessel provided by the Dept. of Aquatic Resources of Hawaii.

Equipment used will be SCUBA to retrieve the semi permeable membrane devices.
