Other ID: none

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Coral Reef Ecosystems Studies - CREST (GX.22.MN00.E3R50.00)

Principal Investigator(s): Lauren Toth

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Billy Reynolds, Anastasios Stathakopoulos

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collecting cores of coral-reef framework (drill coring)

Vehicle(s): White Dodge Pickup - White, Ford F-350 Dually White (GSA)

Start Port/Location: Saint Petersburg, Florida

End Port/Location: Monroe County, Florida (Islamorada and Marathon)

Start Date: 2015-06-07

End Date: 2015-06-21

Equipment Used: Hydraulic Coring Drill, Garmin GPS

Information to be Derived: Trends in Holocene reef development

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Collected three cores of Holocene reef framework at Sombrero Reef, Monroe County, FL. All cores reached the Pleistocene boundary. Due to equipment problems and foul weather, no cores were collected at Tennessee or Crocker reefs during this trip.
