Other ID: none

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Biogeochemistry, groundwater monitoring, and environmental assessment (LQ000I4)

Principal Investigator(s): Meagan Eagle, Kevin Kroeger

Affiliate Investigator(s): Faming Wang, MBL Jim Tang, MBL

Information Specialist(s): Meagan Eagle

Data Type(s): Environmental Data: CTD, Environmental Data: Depth, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology, Time Series: Geochemical Monitoring

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collect marsh cores, pore-water and surface water conductivity, temperature and depth time-series data, and conduct elevation surveys in 11 tidally-restricted estuary systems on Cape Cod to examine environmental geochemistry and health of the estuary. Three additional sites in Rhode Island were added to this study; two sites with a restored tidal restriction and one control natural salt marsh site in Narragansett Bay.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA

End Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA

Start Date: 2016-04-11

End Date: 2016-11-30

Equipment Used: CTD 19+ with OBS, PAR, DO, Chl, In-Situ AquaTroll 200 (CTD), Real Time Kinematic GPS, Push corer (wh), Other

Information to be Derived: Geochemistry, elevation of transects along tidally restricted creeks

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Marsh sediment coring, CTD logging in surface water and shallow wells, and elevation information of tidally restricted creeks

Staff: Sandra Brosnahan, Barry Irwin, Adrian Mann, Jennifer O'keefe Suttles
