Vehicle(s): White Dodge Pickup - White

Start Port/Location: St. Petersburg, FL

End Port/Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Start Date: 2017-04-17

End Date: 2017-05-07

Equipment Used: Coral Slabs, Balance, Balance Temperature Logger, HOBO Water Temperature Pro V2 Data Logger, Sea-Bird Wave and Tide Logger (SBE 26plus), Digital Camera, GPS , Other

Information to be Derived: Mass of calcium carbonate gained per unit time for corals Porites astreoides and Acropora cervicornis and crustose coralline algal communities on nylon tiles. Hourly temperature data for past 6 months. Porites astreoides coral samples for geochemical, growth, fecundity, zoox identity, and other analyses.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Sampling of Porites astreoides colonies occurred 4-17-17 to 4-27-17 for all four sites. Elizabeth Lenz from University of Hawaii was with us to sample P. astreoides tissue for genetics, zooxanthella clade, and fecundity. All sampling in DRTO, including set-up of Acropora palmata, occurred 4-23-17 to 4-25-2017. Acropora palmata set-up for main Keys sites occurred 5-3-17 to 5-7-17.

Notes: "Other" Staffing: Elizabeth Lenz, NSF GRIP intern from University of Hawaii, accompanied us on both sampling trips.
"Other" equipment used to sample corals: tile saw and water-pick.
