Information Specialist(s): Anastasios Stathakopoulos, Lauren Toth

Data Type(s): Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Collect cores from modern and late Holocene coral heads from the nearshore environments of south Florida to reconstruct paleoclimate and coral growth.

Vehicle(s): Ford F-350 Dually White (GSA), Chevy Suburban Silver

Start Port/Location: St. Petersburg, Fl

End Port/Location: Miami, Fl

Start Date: 2018-07-08

End Date: 2018-07-15

Equipment Used: Hydraulic Coring Drill

Information to be Derived: Coral cores which will be analyzed to evaluate coral growth rates and to develop geochemical reconstructions of climate

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: We collected cores from 10 Holocene-aged Orbicella spp. corals from the nearshore ridge off of Pompano Beach, Fl and cores from 3 modern corals throughout SE Florida
