Scientific Purpose/Goals: An assesment of the accuracy, limitations and performance of bathymetric lidar in relation to substrate, depth, SAV, Turbidity and flow of a riverine system.
Vehicle(s):
Start Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA
End Port/Location: Woods Hole, MA
Start Date: 2019-10-21
End Date: 2019-10-25
Equipment Used: Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Aeropoint targets
Information to be Derived: We will be collecting multispectral imagery and GPS data for use in photogrammetric analysis.
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: This project led by John Young of the Leetown Science Center focused on mapping the bathymetry of the Potomac river using various remote sensing techniques including structure from motion (SfM) mapping using an unmanned aerial system (sUAS).
