Other ID: 20CCT01

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Estuary and Marsh Geology - EMRG (Geomorphology) (GX.25.MN00.M1D20.00)

Principal Investigator(s): Christopher Smith, Kathryn Smith

Affiliate Investigator(s): Jonathan Pitchford (Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve)

Information Specialist(s): Joseph Terrano

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Benchmarks, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Retrieve and redeploy sediment plates and sensors. Also collect elevation and positional data for marsh features.

Vehicle(s): Ford F-250 Stone Grey

Start Port/Location: Saint Petersburg, FL

End Port/Location: Moss Point, MS

Start Date: 2020-01-27

End Date: 2020-01-29

Equipment Used: Net Sedimentation Tile , Other, Grab Sampler, Push Corer, Sediment Trap, Other

Information to be Derived: Grain size, sediment deposition, shoreline positions and elevations, bulk density, loss on ignition, micro-fossils, turbidity.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Kathryn and NERR staff (using NERR vessel) collected net sedimentation tiles and marsh sensors. Joseph, BJ, and Kyle used R/V Sallenger to go offshore to dive for ADCP sensor. Joseph was topside while BJ and Kyle were diving.

Staff: Joseph Vargas

Affiliate Staff:

Notes: Kathryn are collecting sediment plates, shoreline positions, and water level data with Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve staff using a NERR vessel. Sediment plates were deployed in Oct 2019 and will be collected on this trip. All marsh and estuarine sensors will be collected.

Joseph, BJ, and Kyle used R/V Sallenger to go offshore to dive for ADCP sensor. Joseph was topside while BJ and Kyle were diving.
