Start Port/Location: Ofu, American Samoa

End Port/Location: Ofu, American Samoa

Start Date: 2020-01-27

End Date: 2020-02-13

Equipment Used: sampling equipment, Supersting R8, CT sensor, radonmonitor, current meter, wavegauge, wave/tide gauge, FLIR thermal camera, instrumentmooring

Information to be Derived: Investigate geophysical controls on algal outbreaks over NPS coral reefs

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Bottom-mounted oceanographic instrumentation was deployed to monitor tides, waves, current, salinity, and water temperature. Kayak-based CTD tows were performed to map surface salinity and temperature. Water samples were collected for nutrients. Time-series thermal camera towers were deployed to monitor sea-surface temperatures. UAS-based time-series thermal mapping was conducted to map sea-surface temperatures. Electrical resistivity surveys were performed to map groundwater.
