Data Type(s): Biological Field Study: Surveys (biological)

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Acquire biological samples of invasive organisms for DNA analysis

Vehicle(s): None

Start Port/Location: Puget Sound, WA

End Port/Location: San Diego, CA

Start Date: 2022-05-09

End Date: 2022-05-21

Equipment Used: sample

Information to be Derived: DNA analysis

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Twenty-two samples were collected over the course of 12 days by a spoon or petite gravity corer in shallow water in 14 bays or harbors along the western coast of North America between British Columbia, Canada and San Diego, California, USA. The samples were taken for DNA analysis of the microorganisms (foraminifera), primarily in an attempt to obtain the molecular sequence of invasive microorganisms.
