AKA: none

Other ID: none

Status: Pending

Organization(s): USGS, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Coastal and marine earthquake, tsunami, and landslide active margin field studies (ZP00EQV)

Principal Investigator(s): Janet Watt, Jenna Hill

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Alicia Balster-gee

Data Type(s): Seismics: Sub Bottom Profiler, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To collect sediment cores for marine geohazard studies

Vehicle(s): MarFac; Ford 650 Box truck - White G71-03559

Start Port/Location: San Francisco, CA

End Port/Location: Astoria, OR

Start Date: 2022-09-18

End Date: 2022-10-03

Equipment Used: 0.5-16 kHz receiver, 0.5-16 kHz, pistoncore

Information to be Derived: Sediment age, character and distribution; earthquake recurrence; fault characterization

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Collected piston cores up to 8m-long along deepwater portions of northern CA, OR, and WA. Cruise was cut short due to ship mechanical issues. Did not get deepwater cores in WA. Chirp data were collected along the mid-slope in OR.
