Other ID: Darby UAS Mapping 2023

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Aerial Imaging & Mapping (AIM) (LQ000GU1400)

Principal Investigator(s): Sandra Brosnahan

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Jennifer Cramer

Data Type(s): Visual Identification: Ground Truthing, Imagery: Photo, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Environmental Data: Temperature, Location-Elevation: LIDAR

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To collect mapping data for the EPA at an old landfill including the Fish and Wildlife Service Park to the south that the landfill runs into.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Woods Hole MA

End Port/Location: Woods Hole MA

Start Date: 2023-08-28

End Date: 2023-09-01

Equipment Used: Digital camera, Ricoh GR II, DJI Matrice, Reconnaissance, Altum-PT, Spectra Precision SP80, Parrot Anafi, Aeropoint targets, Yellowscan Mapper

Information to be Derived: Will be flying mutliple sensors on the M600 including a LiDAR and Thermal system borrowed from NUSO

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Lidar (YellowScan Mapper+), imagery (Altum-PT & Ricoh GRII), and thermal (FLIR and ZenMuse XT2) data were collected at the Clearview Landfill and in the Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. GPS data was also collected. Vegetation surveys were conducted near the landfill. It was discovered that the XT2 camera was malfunctioning so no thermal imagery was published.

Staff: Jennifer Cramer, Jin-Si Over, Seth Ackerman

Affiliate Staff:
Chris Gazoorian (NYWSC)

Notes: YellowScan Mapper+ was used for lidar, ZenMuse XT2 for thermal - these two systems are not in compass

Update 5/31/2024* The XT2 is still not in compass.
Update 12/20/2024* The XT2 is still not in compass.
