Other ID: NantucketSoundBoomer

Status: Pending

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Massachusetts Integrated Coastal Studies (LQ00M0Z)

Principal Investigator(s): Laura Brothers

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Wayne Baldwin

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Seismics: Multichannel, Seismics: Boomer

Scientific Purpose/Goals: to collect information to define the geologic framework

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Falmouth Harbor

End Port/Location: Falmouth Harbor

Start Date: 2024-06-04

End Date: 2024-07-22

Equipment Used: DGPS, Single channel hydrophone, Boomer, GeoEel 8-channel streamer

Information to be Derived: single and multi-channel seismic data using a boomer source

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Six days of data collection were conducted as part of the Massachusetts Integrated Studies project and aided in the testing out of the new platform, RV O'Brien. This effort collected 124.5 trackline kilometers of multi-channel seismic reflection profile data (boomer source) in Nantucket Sound, MA.
