Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Barbara Lidz

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology, Seismics: Boomer

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To fill a major gap in seismic data in a 20-year study of the reef track.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne

End Port/Location: Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne

Start Date: 1997-10-12

End Date: 1997-11-02

Equipment Used: GPS , ITI ST-5 streamer, Hydraulic Coring Drill, Push Corer, Applied Acoustics CSP 300

Information to be Derived: Geophysical data are being used to determine depth to the Pleistocene bedrock surface and Holocene sediment distribution and thickness, and to locate sample sites.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Collected 52 single-channel boomer seismic lines ( > 300 line kilometers of profiles ) along With 4 sediment cores, one push core and water samples from wells.
