Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center, USGS, St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Christopher Smith

Affiliate Investigator(s): Pete Swarzenski

Information Specialist(s): Christopher Smith

Data Type(s): Electro-Magnetic: Resistivity, Environmental Data: CTD, Environmental Data: Conductivity, Environmental Data: Radon

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To evaluate the volumetric flux of groundwater to coastal ocean near Kahekili, HI. Evaluate groundwater contribution to nearshore nutrient budget and cycling.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Maui, Hawaii

End Port/Location: Maui, Hawaii

Start Date: 2010-07-12

End Date: 2010-07-19

Equipment Used: Continuous Resistivity Profiler (CRP), Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) Logger/Probe, Rad 7 Radon Detector, YSI 556

Information to be Derived: Radon activity, metal and nutrient concentrations, in surface and groundwater, percentage of fresh groundwater discharging to the coast.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: CRP (4), RAD7 (3), YSI (2) and LTC data files were collected along multiple N-S transects.
