AKA: none

Other ID: G-1-04-GB

Status: Completed

Organization(s): National Marine Fisheries Service, Santa Cruz

Funding Program(s): National Seafloor Mapping and Benthic Habitat Studies (MU195)

Principal Investigator(s): Guy Cochrane

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Jodi Harney

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Imagery: Video, Imagery: Photo, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Ground-truth geophysical data using video, digital seafloor imagery, and physical sampling.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Gustavus, Alaska

End Port/Location: Gustavus, Alaska

Start Date: 2004-04-05

End Date: 2004-04-17

Equipment Used: GPS, underwatertelevision, digitalcamera, VanVeengrab, gravitycore

Information to be Derived: Surficial geology, grain size, and benthic habitat observations.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: 12 days spent collecting underwater video on transects over multibeam and sidescan data coverage areas in 5 to 100 m water depths in the main axis of Glacier Bay, the two northern inlet (arms), and smaller interior bays. Sediment samples, short gravity cores, and bed sediment camera imagery were collected throughout cruise. Digital video tapes. Data files of video observations. Digital macro photos. Short cores. Bottom grab samples.
