AKA: none

Other ID: G-1-97-MW

Status: Completed

Organization(s):

Funding Program(s): Recent Submarine and Coastal Landsliding in Sleeping Bear Dunes (MU236)

Principal Investigator(s): Tom Edsall

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Sample the bottom sediment in and near the landslide to determine the affect of the slide on benthic infauna, determine the grain size of the sediment that was transported offshore in the 1995 landslide.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Frankfort, MI

End Port/Location: Frankfort, MI

Start Date: 1997-08-03

End Date: 1997-08-03

Equipment Used: VanVeengrab, GPS, Ponargrab

Information to be Derived: Benthic infauna, grain size

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Bottom samples were collected at five stations on three transects, which ran from either 10 or 30 m to 89 m water depths. These transects were located (1) east of the slide area (control), (2) on the older landslide deposits, and (3) on the 1995 landslide deposits.
