AKA: none

Other ID: J-1-95-SF

Status: Completed

Organization(s):

Funding Program(s): Applied sediment transport (ZP009TV)

Principal Investigator(s): Dave Cacchione

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Environmental Data: Current, Sampling: Geology, Sonar: Sidescan, Time Series: Mooring (physical oceanography)

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Deployment of geoprobe to gather time-series data on near-bottom sediment transport and tidal/wind-driven mixing; determine effects of flow and bottom stresses on biological processes.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location:

End Port/Location:

Start Date: 1995-02-28

End Date: 1995-03-01

Equipment Used: Geoprobe, ADP, handsamplegrab, sidescansonar

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Completed side-scan survey on a site about 1 km NE of the San Mateo Bridge within the main channel. Also, deployed one geoprobe tripod and two ADCP systems within 200 m of one another in about 18 m water depth in the main channel. Obtained small bottom samples using divers for calibration of the optical instruments and for grain-size analysis.
