Notes: Report of Marine /seismic data acquisition and processing in analog list. L196SC Sam Clarke (USGS/USGS), Mike Kennedy (Calif. Div. of Mines and Geology), and Clive Moody (Pelagos, Inc.) recently collaborated in the collection of approx. 150 line-km of digitally recorded Geopulse data from the vicinity of the Coronado Bridge in San Diego Bay aboard the Pelagos boat, LOCATOR. This work was the first part of a two-part study to facilitate Caltrans seismic retrofit of the bridge. The second part of the study, to be conducted later this year, will involve collection of high-resolution USGS data from selected parts of the bay. Initial data quality is excellent, and first-cut nav-plotting, processing, and interpretation were completed by Clarke and Kennedy in San Diego. Ancillary adventures included numerous close encounters with shallows, warships of frigate- to carrier-size,tugs and tour boats, and Navy SEAL high-speed small-boat maneuvers and paradrops.
