AKA: none

Other ID: W-1-01-WA

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center, Washington Deparment of Ecology

Funding Program(s): Coastal Change Hazards (MU051), Southwest Washington Coastal Erosion Study (MU274)

Principal Investigator(s): Guy Gelfenbaum, Peter Ruggiero

Affiliate Investigator(s):

Information Specialist(s): Laura Kerr

Data Type(s): Sonar: Single Beam, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To collect nearshore bathymetry at a "winter" beach using a second generation coastal profiling system and to collect winter surface sediment samples and map the topography of the beach using clammer -6 wheel drive amphibious all-terrain vehicle at Ocean Shores, WA.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Ocean Shores, WA

End Port/Location: Ocean Shores, WA

Start Date: 2001-03-29

End Date: 2001-03-31

Equipment Used: echosounder, GPS, VanVeengrab

Information to be Derived: Nearshore bathymetry/morphology, grain size, beach topography

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Collected 16 lines of bathymetry from approximately 15 meters water depth through the surf-zone perpendicular to the beach at Ocean Shores, WA. Surface sediment grab samples were also collected. Topography data for surface map of beach was collected.
