Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: San Leandro and Redwood City

End Port/Location: San Leandro and Redwood City

Start Date: 2005-01-05

End Date: 2005-04-05

Equipment Used: 200khz

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: The survey covers approximately 250 square kilometers (97 square miles) of the bay and extends south of Coyote Point on the west shore, to the San Leandro marina on the east, including Coyote Creek and Ravenswood, Alviso, Artesian and Mud sloughs. A single-beam, 200 kHz echosounder collected depths at a nominal spacing of 0.15 m along tracklines with 100 m spacing between lines, resulting in a total of approximately 20 million soundings (or 2.7 million when thinned to 1 m spacing).

Notes: Class 1 hydrographic survey was collected by Sea Surveyor, Inc. of Benicia, California Sea Surveyor Inc. utilized three different vessels for surveying different regions of the bay; (1) a 29 ft aluminum vessel for north of the Dumbarton Bridge (2) a 25 ft vessel with a fiberglass hull for the shallow-water area between the Dumbarton Bridge and Coyote Creek (3) a 14 ft aluminum skiff for the shallow creeks and sloughs. Equipment used: INNERSPACE Model 455 survey-grade depthfinder with 3-degree transducer, TSS DMS-05 motion sensor, OMISTAR GPS receiver.
